The Chapel of St. Francesca Romana: the chapel was founded after 1608, the date of the canonisation of the saint. The many restorations the frescoes have undergone make it impossible to speculate on the author of the original pictorial decoration. Overall, the frescoes present themselves as a work characterised by markedly devotional accents, which make some images resemble votive offerings. The frescoes on the sub-arch and walls depict episodes from the life of St. Frances of Rome. In the vault of the chapel, the image of the Blessing Eternal is in the centre; at the sides, the post mortem miracles of the saint. On the altar is the painting of The Virgin Holding the Child to St. Frances of Rome, one of the visions of the saint, who had lost her son Evangelist in her youth. Two plaques on the side walls commemorate the chapel’s renovation works, promoted by Cinzia Castellani de’ Grossi of the Confraternity of Orphans and Orphans. The coat of arms of the Company is at the top of the chapel’s entrance arch.
