Letter of Father Martino Nicola Capelli, young Dehonian priest killed on 1 October 1944 by the SS in the massacre of Monte Sole. The letter kept in the little chapel dedicated to the martyrs of Nazism is meant to be a sign of the commitment that Father Martino bore in communicating the Gospel, a faithful shepherd of his flock during the time of the Second World War.

From a prayer for the Virgin Mary written by Father Martino in the days before the massacres of Monte Sole

Pray for us discouraged and crushed under misfortune, torn between us, torn by hatred, trembling thinking of our men prisoners on all the shores of the earth. We foresee the utter misfortune of the Fatherland. Pray for the dead cut down on the battlefields, like our beautiful wheat in June, innocent victims. To you we offer our tears and sorrow. To you we consecrate the supreme sacrifice of our loved ones. For all our sorrow give us your comfort, for all our sacrifice your reward and eternal rest.
